For Immediate Release:
Author Susan Quandt Book Signing On March 6 at 7 PM
What does a left-handed shortstop have to do with how a CEO should choose people for his or her team? Which CEO compares his company to a jungle metal drum band and why? Why does one CEO believe it’s important you should smile at people and not machines? What successful CEO turned to his 97 year-old mother for career advice? Why beware of 110% commitment?
These are a few examples of captivating stories from the prominent CEOs author Susan Quandt interviewed about their first 18 months on the job in her book Sudden Impact on the Job. Her findings dispel long-held beliefs about how to successfully transition into a new job by answering the following:
How do you avoid major surprises when you start a new job?
Should you formulate a plan before you start the job?
How quickly should you make changes to your team?
Is it imperative you’ve made a big contribution within 90 days of taking the job?
If you make a mistake early in the job is it fatal?
How important are mentors or a “kitchen cabinet”?
Is faster always better?
The CEOs in the book include Jeff Joerres of Manpower, Irene Rosenfeld of Frito-Lay (now with Kraft Foods), Jamie Dimon of JP Chase, Ed Zander of Motorola, Dick Notebaert of Qwest and Pat Russo of Lucent among others.
Susan will be interviewed on WUWM-FM (89.7) on Tuesday, March 6 between 9 am and 11am and will be signing books at Harry W. Schwartz Bookstore, Mequon at 7 pm that evening. Hope you’ll be there!
